About David
When I “retired” from a satisfying, 29-year career in Real Estate Appraisal Management in 2011, I quickly “unretired” and started two new ventures. I became a therapeutic dog massager www.skillfulhandsdogmassage.com (I love dogs) and also became a mediator www.forevercaremediation.com. Both of these endeavors involve attentive listening, although in very different ways. As part of the mediation adventure, I became a panel member at North Shore Community Mediation Center, a well-run, local, non-profit, serving the community in a variety of ways. As for dog massage, I specialize in older dogs with arthritis and other challenges.
At 70, I started doing sprint triathlons. These are the “easiest” of all the triathlons and I learned to swim in the ocean and run. I have done four of them so far. My goal in these challenges is simply to finish and enjoy it fully. I feel so lucky and grateful that I am able to do these things.
My wife, Catherine, and my life are so intertwined that it would not be possible to tell my story without her. We married in 1976 and still continue to learn from each other. We have been part of many “communities” throughout our lives. In fact, we met as part of the Le Grand David Magic Company when we were in our 20s. We have been involved with the Massachusetts Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary for over 25 years; we did the horse program at Camp Fatima exceptional citizens week for special needs children for ten summers; we have been connected to the LaSalette Faith Community for over 20 years, we love the Polish community in Salem, MA, and since 2006, every other year we have volunteered for a week at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
Gratitude has been my internal center of gravity for a very long time. This feeling has transformed almost every situation that I have encountered. I want to encourage and support others to connect with this life enhancing energy.
